Qualification Guidelines for Applicants for Home Repairs

  • The homeowner for which the applicant is asking assistance must reside in the home
  • He/she must be an older adult (60 years of ago or older) and/or a disabled adult.
  • He/she must fall under the current HUD low income guidelines (e.g. in 2018 as single person $31,650)
  • Live in the county of El Paso. The CDBG grant can only serve people living within the City of El Paso. Other grants/donations can be used within the county. Rental homes are excluded.
  • Rebuilding Together does only basic repairs and no remodeling. Repairs are focused on safety and health matters.
  • Typical repairs are :

 

  • repair/replace water heater, furnace or air conditioner
  • roof repairs, not replacement of complete roofs
  • grab bars in bathrooms
  • bath to shower conversions
  • interior/exterior painting
  • front/backyard clean up and trash removal
  • window pane replacement
  • caulking of doors, windows, bathroom wall tile
  • removing hazard in home that may cause falls or be an impairment to scooters/wheelchairs
  • other repairs that are allowed by the City of El Paso’s CDBG Volunteer Housing Program
