Qualification Guidelines for Applicants for Home Repairs
- The homeowner for which the applicant is asking assistance must reside in the home
- He/she must be an older adult (60 years of ago or older) and/or a disabled adult.
- He/she must fall under the current HUD low income guidelines (e.g. in 2018 as single person $32,900)
- Live in the county of El Paso. The CDBG grant can only serve people living within the City of El Paso. Other grants/donations can be used within the county. Rental homes are excluded.
- Rebuilding Together does only basic repairs and no remodeling. Repairs are focused on safety and health matters.
- Typical repairs are :
- repair/replace water heater, furnace or air conditioner
- roof repairs, not replacement of complete roofs
- grab bars in bathrooms
- bath to shower conversions
- interior/exterior painting
- front/backyard clean up and trash removal
- window pane replacement
- caulking of doors, windows, bathroom wall tile
- removing hazard in home that may cause falls or be an impairment to scooters/wheelchairs
- other repairs that are allowed by the City of El Paso’s CDBG Volunteer Housing Program
