Qualification Guidelines for Applicants for Home Repairs*:
The homeowner for which the applicant is asking assistance must reside in the home
He/she must be an older adult (62 years of ago or older) and/or a disabled adult.
He/she must fall under the current HUD low income guidelines (e.g. in 2020 as single person $34,100)
Live in the county of El Paso. The CDBG grant can only serve people living within the City of El Paso. Other grants/donations can be used within the county. Rental homes are excluded.
*Rebuilding Together does only basic repairs and no remodeling. Repairs are focused on safety and health matters. Typical repairs are :
repair/replace water heater, furnace or air conditioner
roof repairs, not replacement of complete roofs
grab bars in bathrooms
bath to shower conversions
interior/exterior painting
front/backyard clean up and trash removal
window pane replacement
caulking of doors, windows, bathroom wall tile
removing hazard in home that may cause falls or be an impairment to scooters/wheelchairs
other repairs that are allowed by the City of El Paso’s CDBG Volunteer Housing Program
